歐元區緊急峰會就希臘亟需的第3輪紓困達成協議後，希臘國會必須在15日午夜前，通過經峰會修正的財經改革案，才能換取新的紓困貸款。為求改革案過關，希臘總理齊普拉斯勢將著手清理黨內強硬反對派國會議員與閣員，如此則可能牽動內閣改組、籌組全國團結政府，或是國會提前改選。
希臘政府的改革案版本日前交付國會審議時，獲全體300名議員251票贊成通過。齊普拉斯領導的「激進左派聯盟」在國會掌握149個議席，加上盟友共有162席，其中只145人投贊成票，另7人缺席，2人反對，8人棄權。
據希臘政府消息人士指出，挑戰齊普拉斯、投票時缺席的希臘國會議長康斯坦托普魯，必須透過不信任決議才能撤換，而其他未支持改革案的執政黨國會議員則預料將自動請辭。他們之中領導黨內強硬派「左翼平台」的能源部長拉法扎尼斯、勞動部副部長史特拉托里斯等人，據料也都將被解除內閣職務，從而促成內閣改組。
不過，希臘國會副議長米羅普洛斯說，執政黨反對派中有建黨元老，是黨內權力第二大的派系，他們不會輕易屈服。代表左翼平台觀點的Iskra網站直斥，修正的改革案對希臘是項「羞辱」，有媒體指出，左翼平台無意「吞忍」，可能在黨內發動造反。
而假若強硬派17名國會議員最後被逐出「激進左派聯盟」，該黨與盟友將喪失在國會的多數優勢，如此齊普拉斯必須延攬反對黨共組全國聯合政府，否則就必須在今年內提前改選國會。
此外，執政黨內除17名強硬反對派議員外，投贊成票的議員中也有至少15人已致函齊普拉線上英文家教費用斯表明，他們不會批准國際債權方對希臘任何更進一步的改革要求。如此，歐元區峰會修正的希臘改革案若要在希臘國會過關，勢必需要親歐派的反對陣營國會議員鼎力相助。
中間派的「河流黨」已表明會支持經修正的改革案，但不會加入全國團結政府。此外，支持最初改革案的中間偏右派反對黨「新民主黨」、「泛希臘社會主義運動」與其他左翼政黨，與激進左派聯盟的歧見甚深，可能難以組成穩定的聯合政府。
